Sparrow Kitchen and Bar
10 O’Connell St North Adelaide Review by Aaron
Relatively new, Sparrow is located on the old North Adelaide Cibo restaurant site. Previously and for a very short time Number Ten occupied this location, however after a significant renovation Sparrow has emerged as one of Adelaide’s premier and must eat places in town.
A mix of Spanish and Italian cuisine, with a selection of gourmet pizzas and a fantastic Tapas menu. The interior is boutique yet open spaced with a homely feel, often only found in a quiet European town or village. We began with the Tapas menu, from which I can definitely recommend trying the cauliflower and truffle croquet, Mini Wagyu Burger and battered soft shell crab. However there is plenty more to choose from the Tapas menu and you could spend all night sampling the delicious flavours and unique presentation that accompanies these dishes that I have not experienced anywhere else in Adelaide.
For mains, I ordered the steak and although a little underdone for my liking, it was very tasty. Sides do have to be ordered separate for the steaks and I chose a side of potato puree and a Hollandaise Sauce, which I found to compliment well. The Blue Swimmer Crab when in season was a generous size and as fresh as they come!
I will definitely be back.

The Oriental
120 Magill Rd Norwood Review by Aaron
$3 steaks on Sunday’s!...Yes that’s right $3 steaks on Sunday’s! I’m not sure how long they will have this special on for, but it’s fantastic! Okay you have to pay a whole $1 extra for sides, like sauce, chips, salad and bread, but that still means if you order all that, you are paying $7 for a 200g porterhouse steak, I doubt anywhere else is so cheap!
It makes the good ol’ days of the Thursday night $10 Queens Head steaks seem like the Ritz! The Steak is cooked medium and although porterhouse is not my favourite cut of meat… its $3!
That’s 10/10 value

Serafino 2007 $26
Displaying an aroma of ripe blackberry, mint and violets, complemented by subtle cedary oak notes. The palate exhibits intense cassis and dark cherry flavours with hints of herbaceous/briary fruit, all enhanced by firm tannins and perfectly integrated French and American oak maturation.
An elegant beautifully balanced wine, with a long lingering finish. Approachable now or cellar for up to 10 years under the right conditions.
